A visit to your classroom from an Ancient Greek hoplite!

A soldier from Ancient Greece will visit your school to help you teach your children about daily life in the classical Greek city-states in the fifth century BC.

Topics include the lives of women, the olympics, slaves and children, life in Athens and Sparta, democracy, work and trade, science, and the Persian Wars.

  

 

 

  

If the Greeks had lost the Persian Wars early in the 5th century BC, then the way that we live in the West today could be totally different.

Children can dress in armour, drill to commands in Classical Greek and learn from direct experience about the legacy of the Ancient Greeks.

  The Greeks gave us our ideas about how to run our country as we do now.
